Casino War

Casino War is one of the simplest casino table games, based on the game of War that many people may remember playing as children. It’s a game of high luck, played with six standard decks of 52 cards. The game is straightforward, involving a single card dealt to both the dealer and the player. The ranks of the cards are what determine the outcome.

How Casino War is Played:

  1. Betting:
    • Before the cards are dealt, players place their bets on whether they will win by having a higher card than the dealer.
  2. Dealing Cards:
    • Both the player and the dealer receive one card each, face up.
  3. Outcomes:
    • If the player’s card is higher than the dealer’s card, the player wins even money on their bet.
    • If the dealer’s card is higher than the player’s card, the player loses their bet.
    • If the player’s card and the dealer’s card are the same rank, a tie occurs, leading to two options:
      • Surrender: The player forfeits half their bet and the round ends.
      • Go to war: The player can choose to go to war by placing an additional bet equal to their original bet.
  4. Going to War:
    • If the player elects to go to war, the dealer burns three cards and then deals one card to both the player and themselves again.
    • If the player’s second card equals or beats the dealer’s second card, the player wins even money on the original bet, and the additional bet is returned. If the dealer’s card is higher, the player loses both bets.
  5. Tie Bet:
    • Before the cards are dealt, players can also place a side bet predicting that the first cards will be a tie.
    • If a tie does occur, this bet typically pays 10 to 1.

Casino War is attractive due to its simplicity and the familiarity of the rules. The game involves no strategy, relying purely on the luck of the draw, which makes it easy for beginners or those looking for a less intense gambling experience. Despite its simplicity, the possibility of frequent ties and the decision to surrender or go to war adds an element of tension and excitement to the game.
